CEO Mexico DMC Cancun & Riviera Maya – April 2018 News

Dear friends and colleagues, we just received an excellent testimonial from our client concluding her program at Andaz Mayakoba. It also addresses her group’s comfort level participating in off-property activities. Here is her testimonail followed by my comments.

“Hello John

On behalf of GOLDCORP and Pacific Destinations I cannot thank you and your team enough for the incredible service they provided throughout our program at the Andaz Mayakoba.

With the recent travel advisories put in place I want to let you and your team know that at no time did we feel unsafe while we were enjoying the offsite activities. Your drivers and onsite staff took care of all the details to ensure all the excursions offered were executed flawlessly and that the guests had an amazing time.

Spending this past 8 days in Mexico personally has been amazing and I wish I could move here. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and make everyone feel so welcome even if you don’t speak the same language.

I can’t wait to be back to work with your team again. Please pass on a huge thank you to Tony, Henry, Ivan, Jose Luis and the rest of the CEO team that made our program a super success!!

Your team is top notch!

Hasta la proxima vez!

Now from me:

The press is brutal in the US. I read an article in the New York Post which claimed the streets are running red with blood in Cancun and they included stock photos from last year (and not any signs of blood!). They made it sound like the shootings happened in the hotel zone and people are afraid to go to beach. Very inaccurate, sensationalized reporting!

Nobody is going to get shot going to Tulum or swimming with dolphins. Please know I live in downtown Cancun in a non-gated community and move about as I wish. I know there are certain parts of downtown I should avoid and I do. These places exist in every large city, however. We do have a unique situation here in Mexico with rival cartel violence, but it is cartel – cartel violence…it is not directed at tourists.

I know each company must make its own risk assessment, but bear in mind The US State Department has the same travel advisory Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution, for our destination, England, France, Italy, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

Please know you are safe to move about and fully enjoy the destination. And know when you do come, we will take good care of you!

Sincerely,

John Nedeau

President, CEO Mexico DMC
